The AODES Canada warranty chart, part by part

What the "3 year manufacturer warranty" on AODES product pages actually covers: the part-by-part chart for PathCross, WorkCross, TrailCross and AlpineCross, the 6,000 km cap, the commercial-use cut, exclusions and the claim process.

AODES Canada's product pages list a "3 year manufacturer warranty". The warranty terms, administered by Aodes Canada Inc. (East Selkirk, Manitoba), show it's a part-by-part chart. Only some parts are covered for 36 months. This is our plain-language summary of version AAS W 05.2024. The document itself is the final word, so read it before you buy.

Three limits that apply to everything

  • 6,000 km cap: the term is 6,000 km or the chart period, whichever comes first. A 36-month part stops being covered at 6,000 km.
  • Commercial use: machines used for commercial purposes get 6 months of parts and labour, not the chart. See what counts and why it matters.
  • Start and registration: coverage starts on the purchase date (or, without proof of purchase, 40 days after the bill of lading). It's activated by a signed warranty registration, so make sure the dealer files it.

"NA" means not applicable to that model. Doors are listed as NA. In short: on a PathCross or WorkCross, the engine, transmission and drivetrain get 3 years (within 6,000 km). Most other systems get 1 to 2 years. The winch, clutch and display get 6 months.

Not covered

  • Wear items: battery, spark plugs, cables, drive belts, air filters, brake pads and rotors, bushings, bulbs, fuses, rubber parts, seats, hardware, mirrors, gaskets, tires, rims, oil, fuel filters, bearings, coolant, brake fluid, engine seals, and AlpineCross skis and track.
  • Water damage, accident damage, and machines that are race-modified or raced.
  • Abuse or misuse, or use that goes against the owner's manual.
  • Damage caused by any non-AODES attachment, implement, accessory or part.
  • Damage from submersion in water, mud or sand.

What ends coverage

  • Non-genuine AODES replacement parts
  • Modifications other than non-interfering cosmetic parts
  • Missed maintenance, including the first 5-hour or 160 km service and the half-throttle break-in. See break-in and service points.

Your obligations: keep service records, and buy from a franchised dealer that does the pre-delivery inspection and final assembly.

Making a claim

  1. Stop using the machine to prevent further damage. Damage from delaying a repair isn't covered.
  2. Take it to an authorized AODES dealer or service centre, or contact the administrator.
  3. The administrator has to issue a claim approval reference number before any repair. Don't let anyone take it apart for a warranty repair before that number is issued.
  4. You must authorize any charges needed to find the cause. Ask the dealer up front what diagnosis costs if the claim is declined.
  5. Approved repairs are done at no cost to you.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • Is the warranty registration filed, and can I have a copy?
  • Does my planned use (farm, acreage, oilfield, rental) count as commercial?
  • On an E-TrailCross: does the "Battery" exclusion include the 48 V traction pack?
  • Which accessories can I add without affecting the warranty?

Ask our service teams at Frontier Auto & Imports, Frontier Mitsubishi or Borderlands.
