The AODES Canada warranty chart, part by part

Using an AODES for work? The warranty drops to 6 months for commercial use

AODES Canada's warranty chart gives up to 36 months on some parts, but commercial use cuts it to 6 months of parts and labour. What that means for farm, oilfield, camp and business buyers, and what to ask before you buy.

The short version

  • AODES Canada's warranty terms cut coverage to 6 months of parts and labour for vehicles used for commercial purposes.
  • The terms don't define commercial use, so ask the dealer how a farm, oilfield, camp or rental job will be treated, and get the answer in writing.
  • The 36-month chart (and the 6,000 km cap) applies only to non-commercial use.

AODES product pages advertise a "3 year manufacturer warranty". The fine print in AODES Canada's warranty terms has a line every work buyer should read: "Vehicles used for commercial purposes will have their warranty period reduced to (6) months parts and labour."

What it means

For personal use, the chart gives 36 months on the engine, transmission and drivetrain of a PathCross or WorkCross, 24 months on the frame and brakes, and shorter terms on other parts, all within 6,000 km. See the full chart. For commercial use, everything gets 6 months of parts and labour.

What counts as commercial?

The terms don't say. Some examples to ask your dealer about before you buy:

  • A WorkCross bought by your company for a lease site or camp
  • A machine you rent out, or use for a paid guiding or outfitting business
  • A farm machine registered to, or written off by, the farm business
  • A personal machine you sometimes take to work

We can't tell you how Aodes Canada will treat your situation. Only the administrator can. Ask the dealer to find out before you sign, and get the answer in writing on your bill of sale or warranty registration.

If you're buying for work anyway

  • Plan for repairs after 6 months. Do the break-in and services by the book, so a claim inside those 6 months isn't refused. See break-in and service points.
  • Budget for wear items, which aren't covered under any use: belts, brakes, tires and filters.
  • Ask the dealer about extended protection products, and read what they cover before you buy one.
  • Keep the machine stock, with genuine AODES parts. Modifications and non-genuine parts end coverage altogether.
