AODES WorkCross 550-2 vs 550-2 HV vs 1000-3 vs 1000-3 HVAC

AODES's smallest and largest three-seat WorkCross utility side-by-sides compared from AODES Canada's product pages: box, towing, size, cab and winter equipment, and the spec gaps to check.

The WorkCross is AODES's utility side-by-side. This page compares the two ends of the two- and three-seat range: the compact 550-2 (with or without the HV cab) and the full-size 1000-3 (with or without HVAC). The 650-3 and 850-3 sit between them. See North AB Trails' AODES lineup overview for those and the six-seat 1000-6.

Which one fits

  • Acreage chores, tight yards and trails: the 550-2 is about 200 mm narrower and 180 mm shorter than the 1000-3, and still tows a rated 1,763 lb.
  • Hauling gravel, posts or feed: the 1000-3's box is longer (52 in vs 31.5 in) and rated about 100 kg higher.
  • Winter work: both cab trims add full doors and heat. The HVAC adds A/C, which matters for dusty summer work with the doors shut.
  • Crew of three: only the 1000-3 seats three.

Spec gaps to check

  • Weights: the 550-2 HV is listed at the same curb weight as the 550-2, despite full doors and a heater. The 1000-3 HVAC is listed lighter than the 1000-3. These are probably copied figures. Weigh the difference when you plan trailer and payload numbers.
  • Towing on the big WorkCross: North AB Trails found AODES's global spec manual lists lower towing for the 1000 HVAC than the Canadian page does. Ask the dealer to confirm the figure on the unit's label.
  • Gross vehicle weight: the two 1000-3 pages list different figures (3,108 lb vs 3,174 lb). Use the label on the machine.
